Prasanna V. Kulkarni, who has been serving the community for nearly 10 years as a junior journalist and professional photographer, originally hails from Koppal district in North Karnataka.

He began his life in poverty with his three brothers and completed his primary education at the Government Kannada School in Bailahongala Taluk of Gangavati and Belagavi District. During this time, Prasanna contracted a fever and became disabled due to back and chest swelling. Despite their efforts with medical and divine remedies, his parents could not cure him, and he became crippled.

Due to his physical disability, Prasanna faced extreme ridicule in school and society, suffering both physical and mental pain. He lost his father while studying in class 10th, making it very difficult for his family, whose income depended on his father, to survive. His mother then took on the responsibility of managing the family. During this time, Prasanna learned the values of life, relationships, and humanity from his mother. At her insistence, he underwent ITI training for one year in Hubli. Later, after completing PUC education as a private candidate, he moved to Bangalore in search of a job, unable to complete his graduation.

In Bangalore, Prasanna initially took on various jobs, from office boy to sales boy. To fulfill his mother’s wish and his dream of pursuing higher education, he enrolled in a BA program at First Class College, Chamarajpet, affiliated with Bangalore University. After completing college, he worked as an office boy at Diana Studio for a salary of Rs 850 and learned professional photography in the mornings, from dawn to half past eleven.

As he was finishing his degree education, he lost his job and became unemployed again, wandering around looking for a job for about six to eight months. When he could not find a job anywhere, he started his photo studio in 2012. Initially, his career was challenging, but with the help of his acquaintances, he has grown to the extent of employing 10 to 15 people a month.

Prasanna has actively participated in various organizations and contributed to the development of society in his way. He has served as a close photographer for MLAs in the political field for about five years. Currently, Prasanna is the co-editor of Dwijodaya, the industry's first Kannada monthly magazine, which recently received praise from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister suggested that although there are job papers in different languages, Kannada is the first of its kind, and it should be made into a digital e-paper to reach more people. Prasanna is focused on fulfilling this vision.

Prasanna also is the co-founder of Dwijodaya, a business magazine, DEN, a business networking organisation. He is also a co-founder and a director of Karnataka State Vipra Photographers and Videographers Association.

Additionally, he serves as the personal photographer for Karnataka government ministers. Prasanna is special because he has grown up without ever using his disability to gain an advantage. In a society where many use disability to seek free government services and pensions, Prasanna has completed his education and built a life like any other person without relying on such aid. His disability has never belittled him. Managing his life, counselling his family, training several photographers, providing employment, and engaging in numerous social organizations and activities, Prasanna's achievements are commendable.
